This one absolutely DOESN’T.
Against the soft gray light of a rainy day, this 11.13 gram natural, unheated Tanzanite puts on an unbelievable color show. Electric icy blues shift into deep violet, steely indigo, and flashes of rich purple as the crystal moves through the changing light.
The clarity is ridiculous—clean, glassy, and incredibly transparent, allowing the color to glow from deep within the crystal. Add that sharp termination and sculptural natural form, and this is easily one of the finest Tanzanites I’ve had the privilege of handling.
Pieces with this combination of saturation, clarity, form, and insane pleochroism are exactly why Merelani continues to fascinate me.
