Couldn’t think of a better place to film this 19.15 gram natural, unheated Tanzanite than right in front of the Tanzanite showcase at the Unearthed exhibit at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

And what a GEM this is.

An almost gem-quality stunner with incredible transparency, glassy luster, and that unmistakable Tanzanite color — flashes of intense blue, violet, purple, and electric tones exploding as the crystal moves through the light.

Seeing a Tanzanite like this in hand while standing in front of an entire showcase dedicated to these treasures makes you appreciate them on another level.

The Unearthed: Raw Beauty at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County mineral display is absolutely fabulous — an incredible presentation of some of nature’s greatest works of art.
