DENTON MINE PURPLE PERFECTION
What a BEAUTY. An incredible cluster of light-to-deep purple Fluorite cubes with Barite and Chalcopyrite from the legendary Denton Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Illinois.
The color on this piece is absolutely killer—layers of rich violet and saturated purple across sharp, stacked cubic crystals, accented by scattered golden Barite and Chalcopyrite. The contrast gives the entire specimen incredible character and that unmistakable old-school Illinois Fluorite look.
And the provenance makes it even better. This specimen comes from the Collection of Harris Precht Jr., collection #378, and according to the original label was purchased from Neal Pfaff in July 1985. Nearly 41 years later, the original collection label remains with the specimen—a beautiful piece of mineral history to accompany an already exceptional Fluorite.
Denton Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, USA Fluorite with Barite & Chalcopyrite Ex. Harris Precht Jr. Collection No. 378 Purchased from Neal Pfaff — July 1985
A killer specimen with the color, associations, locality, and provenance I love to hunt for.
