Glassy. Saturated. Insanely zoned.
This Hasties Quarry fluorite is everything I love about top-tier Illinois material. Razor-sharp cubic crystals, exceptional glassy luster, and rich royal purple saturation are only the beginning.
What truly steals the show is the incredible internal zoning. As the crystal catches the light, layer after layer of deep violet and lighter purple bands emerge, revealing the remarkable growth history locked inside each cube. Every angle uncovers a new pattern, making this specimen impossible to put down.
Fluorites with this level of transparency, sharp crystal definition, and dramatic zoning are becoming increasingly difficult to source, especially from this classic Illinois locality.
