Tourmaline from Coronel Murta, Brazil and Paprok, Afghanistan have a variety of properties, including color, texture, and historical significance: Elbaite tourmaline from Coronel Murta, Brazil This tourmaline is known for its complex color palette, with a variety of shades from cranberry to olive-green, and a deep red-purple cap. It has a glassy luster and is marked by numerous small inclusions that give it a sparkly appearance. Paprok tourmaline from Paprok, Afghanistan This tourmaline is characterized by its flared crystal shape and translucent, lustrous appearance. It has variegated color zones, with a faintly yellowish pink termination, a 1 cm band of light rose color in the center, and a light rose color in the lower half. Historical significance The Paprok tourmaline is an old-style tourmaline, different in person from modern material. The 1985 specimen has a multi-facetted termination and gentle color variations going from light pink to pale blue. Mystical properties Tourmaline is said to have many mystical properties, including fostering compassion, attracting money and healing, and stabilizing Earth roots.
