Spodumene var. Triphane Spodumene is a lithium aluminum silicate with the chemical formula LiAlSi2O6. It’s brittle and has perfect cleavage in two directions, making it difficult to cut. Triphane is derived from the Greek word triphanēs which means “appearing threefold”. It’s found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Madagascar, and the United States.
