FLUORITE FRIDAY.
This is what the hunt can look like…
The top shelf of my cabinet is packed with some of my favorite Illinois fluorites from the legendary Minerva No. 1, Denton, and Annabel Lee mines. Every specimen earned its place through relentless searching, patience, and an obsession with finding pieces that truly stand apart.
Electric blues. Deep violets. Honey golds. Razor-sharp zoning. Glassy luster. These are the qualities that made Southern Illinois fluorite world famous, and why collector-grade examples continue to be some of the most sought-after fluorites on the planet.
It’s hard to pick a favorite when every piece tells a different story, but together they represent exactly why I love this hobby. The hunt, the history, the artistry, and the privilege of preserving these natural masterpieces.
